The Fall From Grace

As season 8 of Game of Thrones comes to a close, many people online are stating their opinions of the last season. Myself included, most people are on the fence whether or not they enjoyed the season. There are many reasons as to whether or not I have been enjoying it thus far, but even still I’m on the fence.

In my opinion, the show has lost the magic that it had in earlier seasons. I think the root of the problem stems from the fact the books have not been completed. Understandably, this has caused various issues for the writers as they have to come up with an ending that not only aligns with the work they have done is previous seasons, but also come up with an ending that will please the many viewers. They have done an incredible job up to this point in adapting George R.R. Martin’s story, but now that they have established they expansive world it seems as though they are going with the past of least resistance in many cases in order to simply wrap up the series. This has resulted in a split among viewers, as it feels as though this nearly decade long journey is ending in a cheap and bland way that is not representative of the magic they captured throughout.

I think that the pacing of the season is off. The creators put so much effort into the earlier seasons that it now  seems  like they are putting what could be 2 or 3 seasons worth of plot into one. For example, the show has built up an extraordinary looming threat during the last seven seasons, only for his character arc to culminate into a single episode.

However, the season has still been entertaining, even if it has not recaptured what was seen in past seasons. The actors have done an incredible job, even with what they were given, and the dialogue still feels authentic. The action as well has been up to par with the rest of the show, (except for a couple of scenes) and the episodes never feel boring.

All in all, I think I have enjoyed the final season thus far, but I think that a show of its caliber deserved a better ending season that the one that it GOT.

The Endgame

As April begins, so does the countdown to the climax of the largest cinematic universe. As phase 3 comes to a close with Avengers: Endgame releasing on April 26, fans of the MCU are dying to see how the events of Infinity War will fix themselves.

With more than half of the cast being turned to dust, and even more dying off-screen, fans are theorizing who they believe will come back to life, who will stay dead, and also, who from the remaining cast will die. Characters like Iron man or Captain America, who have been in the MCU for ages, are rumored to be the ones who will die.

With Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans’ contracts running out, and with Thor getting a reboot in Phase 3, it seems that Downey and Evans’ characters are destined to come to an end, and that Thor is going nowhere.

Obviously no one knows what will happen, except for the people who worked on the movie itself. Theories though are being talked about all over, whether it be Reddit users, YouTube channels, or even people on twitter voicing their opinions, it is no question that Avengers: Endgame is one of the most hyped and talked about movies of its time.
